How To Stay Cool at Disney California Adventure Park
Summer is here and that means days will be hot and the days will be long! Summer time in Southern California is a great excuse to get outside with friends and family and make memories to last a lifetime.
If you plan on taking a trip to the Disneyland Resort this summer, be aware that it can get fairly hot especially when surrounded by all of the other guests . If you find yourself getting a little hot under the collar and want to cool off for a bit or just relax, we’ve got you covered! Here are 4 things you can do to stay cool while hanging out at DCA.
Take a Round Trip Around California
Located in Condor Flats, Soarin’ over California is a great ride to head to when you want to cool down. Directly in front of the queue is “Cool Your Jets” an outdoor vendor with a giant rocket engine that sprays mist every few minutes. This is a great place to cool off before your flight across the Golden State!
Most of the stand by queue for this attraction is indoors and air conditioned. Don’t forget this attraction also has a single rider queue, and this will allow you to head right past the hot outdoor portion of the queue.
Down on the River
Next take a stroll past the evergreen trees and babbling brooks in Grizzly Peak and be sure to stop by Grizzly River Run to harness the power of the rapids. OK you may not be able to harness these rapids, but this attraction is a surefire way to cool you down on a hot summer day.
The motto for this ride is “The wetter, the better”, so be prepared to get wet! If you’re looking to cool off then Grizzly River Run will not disappoint!
If the great outdoors aren’t your thing then head on over to the Disney Animation Building in Hollywood Land to cool off for a bit.
Here you will find so many fun things to do you can literally spend an hour or more with all of the activities at your disposal.
Our favorite is Turtle Talk with Crush which is a 12-minute interactive show with your favorite sea turtle from Finding Nemo. Turtles not your thing? Learn some new drawing skills at the Animation Academy, or explore the Sorcerers Workshop and learn about character personalities and appearances.
Lastly don’t forget to check out the Toy Story Zoetrope! This 3-D demonstration starring the characters from Toy Story 2 will have you in awe. Once it starts spinning under the strobe light you will not believe your eyes!
This last one will probably entertain your kids for hours if you don’t pull the stopper, but make a bee line over to A Bugs Land and check out Princess Dot Puddle Park.
This wacky water play area is equipped with sprinklers, misters, and drenching fountains where you can get soaked or make a game of trying to stay dry! Don’t count on the latter however, especially if your kids are smaller! Be prepared for a drenched little critter.
Don’t worry if you didn’t plan ahead and bring a back up outfit because if it’s hot enough you will likely dry off pretty quick! Besides there are plenty of attractions to help you dry off if the sun isn’t fast enough for you.
Some Other Ideas!
There are also plenty of other ways to stay cool at the park with indoor rides like Arial’s Undersea adventure and Mike and Sully to the Rescue. There are also many shows that you can check out to escape the heat outdoors. Don’t forget to pick up a show schedule as you walk in and plan accordingly as many guests will have the same idea on hot days.
You can also lounge around Paradise Pier and have an ice cream cone to cool off, or for a more adult vibe hang out at The Cove Bar and have a few cocktails and appetizers, but don’t forget to drink plenty of water with those alcoholic beverages as you can get dehydrated quickly when it’s hot out!
